STIPPLE BEAST EVOLVED | Brush Pack

The new and improved evolution of my original STIPPLE BEAST Brush Pack.

This suite of brushes are designed to create gritty, crunchy, bold illustrations by utilizing toothy liners, stipplers, grimy texture stamps, and jittery coloring brushes, with a bonus texture overlay thrown in to bring it all together.

Brushes are inspired by various tattoo needle configurations, inking pens, and spray paints. The goal is to give your digital artwork a tangible quality to them.

Grime never looked so good.

[ WHAT'S NEW? ]

• PROCREATE SUPPORT | At long last! You iPad dwellers can enjoy some crunch.

• STUFF'S ORGANIZED A LITTLE BETTER | Letter and number naming based on brush type, plus renamed some brushes to better convey their function. Also Krita's brush preset icons got a refresh.

[ BRUSHES ]

• A01. DRAFTER | Pencil-like brush, meant for sketching. On Procreate, this brush is more transparent to make up for the way pressure is handled in that program.
• B01. MONO LINER | Formerly LINER SOLID. Tweaked to have a little more size variation based on pressure. Emulates a bigger Micron pen or Uni Super Ink Marker on toothy paper.
• B02. RAZOR WORM LINER | NEW | Sharp as hell liner. Emulates a nice brush pen.
• C01. 1R STIPPLER | Formerly 1RL TX. One dot stipple for nitty-gritty stippling.
• C02.  3R STIPPLER | NEW | Something between 1R and 9R for those in between areas.
• C03. 9R STIPPLER | Formerly 9RL TX. A bigger stippler for covering a bit more area, or getting more dots per stroke.
• C04. 9M STIPPLER | Formerly 9 MAG. Inspired by a 9 mag needle config. Feels like a weird combo of a stipple and a halftone.
• C05. PATTERN STIPPLER | NEW | Stipple pattern brush for covering big areas in an even stipple.
• C06. SPRAY STIPPLER | NEW | Feels almost like stippling with a spray can: tighter, denser coverage with more pressure, and wider looser coverage with less pressure.
• D01. GRIME STAMP | Extra layer of grunge for your pleasure.
• D02. FIBER STAMP | NEW | Add a fibery paper look to your artwork.
• E01. ERASER | NEW | Easy to access eraser built on the MONO LINER.
• F01. COLOR SOLID | Formerly COLOR HARD. For coloring. Has a color jitter for textural crunch.
• F02. COLOR SPRAY | Formerly COLOR SPRAY SOFT. For coloring, but for a softer grainier edge. Has a color jitter for textural crunch

[ BONUS: TEXTURE OVERLAY ]

Built on the MULBERRY PAPER texture in my other texture packs, this texture elevates the life-like quality of illustrations made with this brush set or other real media inspired brushes. 

The highlight and shadow layers create a more life-like depth variation compared to one layer texture overlays that can also be fined tuned by adjusting the blending modes and opacity for each layer. And it's tile-able! Just make sure both the highlight and shadow versions of the texture are scaled and lined up correctly to avoid unwanted visual funk.

[ NOTES ]

• Brushes won't feel exactly the same across all platforms; they all handle brushes a little differently. That said, I did my best to get them as close as possible.
• Designed to be drawn on a 8in x 11in @ 300dpi canvas.
• Dropped some brushes I felt were redundant or can't be made in all three programs supported [Procreate lacks some features that Krita and CSP have IE the 1r, 3r, and 9r stipplers are supposed to be more densely packed the more pressure is applied to them. Krita and CSP support this feature, but not Procreate, so thus the Procreate version's spacing per brush stamping is more even/monospaced. CSP's fiber stamp is a bit softer to preserve some of the detail in the brush that's lost when setting the anti-aliasing to none.] Those retired brushes are still available for Krita and CSP in the original STIPPLE BEAST Brush Pack.

[ ROAD MAP ]

No big plans in mind currently. If I get enough support and demand for it, I might made a more detailed video demo on how I use these brushes in my workflow.
